_"TURNING KIRUV INSIDE OUT"

_An overview of the AJOP Convention 2012

_The Jewish world today faces some of its greatest challenges ever.
From within and without Jewish values are under attack, and many people—even those from within the Orthodox world—need chizuk in Emunah and Torah observance. Kiruv professionals are uniquely qualified to address many of these issues.

Each year at the AJOP Convention, Klal Yisrael’s most difficult challenges are addressed head-on. Join us as we tackle today’s opportunities... and turn Kiruv inside out.
Focus points:
●    Recruitment
●    “Normative Learning”: Jewish Literacy
●    Follow-up & Integration
●    “In-reach” and inspiration

_
Recruitment

_ Today’s secular Jew has changed. He has largely lost interest in Jewish “identity” and in the discussion points that used to hold his attention.
To reach out to the unaffiliated today, we need to learn a new language. Join recruitment experts for an eye-opening discussion about how to reach out to secular Jews today.

_
“Normative Learning”: Jewish Literacy

_A typical Baal Teshuva spends only a few years in Yeshiva (at most). Many lack the skills for high level learning on their own—skills which are the foundation for Orthodox Jewish life.
Mikarvim can play a pivotal role in helping the newly religious advance to the highest possible level of Torah study. The discussion will explore (among other topics) partnerships with organizations which work complements this goal. Help outline new approaches to helping Baalei Teshuva become true Torah scholars.

_
Follow Up & Integration

_ Those who choose to be Torah observant may experience unique challenges. Those in the outreach field likewise have a unique opportunity to help Baalei Teshuva become fully intergrated into their shuls and communities.
Topics will include approaches to long-term follow-up with Baalei Teshuva and their families and techniques for helping them feel integrated in their communities.

_
“In-reach” and Inspiration

_The phenomenon of children (and even adults) who are “at risk” demonstrates that a segment of the Orthodox world lacks a strong attachment to Torah and Mitzvah observance.
Mikarvim are uniquely qualified to address many of these problems; they are adept at instilling Emunah and explaining difficult points of Hashkafa.
Join some of the best minds in the Jewish world to brainstorm and craft practical solutions to a growing crisis... and take with you the tools to rekindle the spark of inspiration in every Jew you encounter, regardless their background and upbringing.
